Hollow Tines
When should you choose the Lawnpecker with two tines, and when the version with three? The three-tine model has a spacing of 2.2 inches (5.5 cm), allowing for close-spaced aeration. The two-tine model has a spacing of about 4 inches (10 cm), which we recommend for highly compacted soils, as fewer tines reduce the effort needed.
The tines are 3.5 inches (9 cm) long and made from stainless steel, with tips crafted from nitrided steel, making them extremely durable. Rocky soils and roots are no issue for the Lawnpecker. A special manufacturing process gives the tines a tapered shape, ensuring smooth soil ejection into the collection tray.
Each tine is securely crimped onto the base plate, ensuring stability and durability.
Tine Options:
0.8-inch Tine (20 mm):
- Ideal for dense and clay-heavy soils
- Larger tines provide effective drainage and aeration for your lawn, making sand backfilling easy
- Suitable for all soil types
- Tapered shape prevents soil from sticking
- Note: The outer diameter is 0.8 inches (20 mm), and the cutting tips have a diameter of 0.6 inches (16 mm) due to the taper
0.6-inch Tine (16 mm):
- Slimmer tines create small, barely noticeable holes with minimal turf damage
- Recommended for sandy soils and light compaction; may clog quickly in clay-heavy soils
- Tapered shape prevents soil from sticking
- Note: The outer diameter is 0.6 inches (16 mm), and the cutting tips measure 0.5 inches (12 mm) due to the taper
Pointed Tine (0.8 inches / 20 mm):
- Recommended for highly compacted or heavy clay soil
- Larger tines enable highly effective drainage and aeration; sand backfilling is also effortless
- Suitable for all soil types
- Tapered shape prevents soil from sticking

1-inch Tine (24 mm):
- With its large diameter, the 1-inch (3x24 mm) tines allow for particularly effective soil plug removal, ideal for clay-rich soils
- The 1-inch diameter ensures plugs don’t get stuck, making it suitable for wet, clay-heavy, and very hard soils
