Our Cutting Height Gauge is an essential tool for anyone who wants maximum precision when setting the cutting height on their reel mower. It allows for exact measurement and adjustment of the height of cut, ensuring a consistent, even cut across your entire lawn.

Simple and Precise Operation

The gauge is easy to use and allows for accurate height-of-cut adjustments. To use it, place the gauge on the reel mower tipped back into its maintenance/service position (for example, on a Falkenstein-style mower). The tip of the digital indicator (probe) is positioned exactly on the cutting edge of the bedknife. Resting on the mower's front and rear rollers ensures a stable, precise measurement.

Fits All Common Reel Mowers

The HOC Bar is compatible with all common reel mower models. Thanks to multiple mounting holes, the indicator can be repositioned to fit different mower types. The two outer holes also double as hanging holes for convenient storage.

High-Precision Digital Indicator for Exact Results

The gauge is fitted with a high-quality digital indicator that measures to 0.0005" (0.01 mm) and has a measuring range of up to 0.98" (25 mm). This precision allows for an exact height-of-cut setting – essential for a clean cut and a healthy lawn. The side-mounted battery compartment allows for easy battery replacement without having to remove the indicator.

Battery Note

The gauge ships without a battery. It requires one CR2032 lithium coin cell battery (3V), which must be purchased separately. It's a very common battery type, widely available at grocery stores, pharmacies, electronics retailers, and online – it's the same battery commonly used in car key fobs, kitchen scales, and calculators.

The gauge is made from high-quality anodized aluminum, which is both corrosion-resistant and long-lasting. We deliberately chose anodizing over powder coating, since anodizing adds an extremely thin, precise surface layer that doesn't affect measurement accuracy – essential for exact, reliable results year after year.
