The Lawnpecker is a manual aerator for anyone who wants to care for their lawn below the surface, too. Hollow tines pull cores out of the soil and the collection tray catches them straight away. Air reaches the roots again, water drains, and the holes can then be filled with sand. We have been building the Lawnpecker since 2009 in our own workshop.
The essentials at a glance
- Stainless steel hollow tines, 9 cm long, with tips made of hardened steel
- Tines in 16, 20 or 24 mm, as a 2-tine or 3-tine plate
- Collection tray made of flexible material, cores do not fall back into the holes
- Base frame in anthracite (powder-coated steel) or stainless steel
- Two handle lengths to suit your height
- Expandable with spike set, solid tine set and weed tine
How the Lawnpecker works
Push the Lawnpecker into the ground with your foot and pull it out again. The tines cut out cores, which are pushed up into the collection tray with the next push. Thanks to the conical shape, the cores do not get stuck in the tines. When the tray is full, simply empty it.
The tines are permanently flanged onto the base plate. The hardened tips are very wear-resistant, so stones and roots in the soil do them little harm.
Which tine suits your soil?
The heavier and more compacted the soil, the larger the diameter can be. The size refers to the outer diameter. At the cutting tip the tines are slightly narrower because of the conical shape.
| Tine | Suited for | Good to know |
| 16 mm | sandy soils and light compaction, follow-up passes | small, barely visible holes, the turf is hardly damaged; clogs quickly on loam |
| 20 mm | dense soils and loam, the all-rounder | good drainage and aeration, easy to fill with sand; also for the first treatment |
| 24 mm | wet, loamy, sticky and very hard soils | a lot of soil exchange, cores do not get stuck even in sticky soil |
2-tine or 3-tine plate?
| 2-tine plate | 3-tine plate |
| Spacing of the tines | about 10 cm | about 5.5 cm |
| Effort per push | lower | higher |
| Hole density | more pushes for the same area | dense aeration more quickly |
| Recommendation | very heavily compacted and hard soils | normal soils and regular care |
Handle length and finish
| Handle | Length without tines | Body height |
| Standard | 86 cm | up to 1.80 m |
| Long | 95 cm | from 1.80 m |
| Finish | Material |
| Anthracite | steel base frame, high-strength powder coating, matt anthracite |
| Stainless steel | base frame made entirely of stainless steel |
The collection tray
The collection tray is made of flexible material. It is light, very robust and, thanks to its flexibility, kind to your shins. It holds plenty of cores without becoming unnecessarily heavy while you work. The cores do not have to be collected one by one and do not fall back into the fresh holes.
Cables or pipes in the ground?
If a robot mower cable, water pipes or a mole net lie shallow in the ground, the adapter kit reduces the working depth of the hollow tines from 9 to 6 cm. It can be removed again at any time.
One base frame, several tools
| Attachment | Used for |
| Hollow tines (included) | aerating with soil exchange, then top-dressing |
| Spike set | many fine holes, quickly opening the surface in between |
| Solid tine set | deep loosening without removing soil, especially in late autumn and winter |
| Weed tine | removing individual weeds including the root |

Quick guide
- Mow the lawn as short as possible beforehand.
- Aerate in parallel lanes when the soil is slightly moist.
- Empty the collection tray when needed.
- Work quartz sand into the holes with the levelling rake, a broom or the REWUKIL with brush cassette, overseed if needed and work it in with the drag mat.
Timing, frequency and all steps in detail: Lawn aeration.
Care
After use, remove soil from the tines, most easily with the tine brush, and store the Lawnpecker dry.
What is included
